Classes and Instruction

We offer extensive training on every aspect of fly-fishing from casting to fly tying. Courses range from beginner to advanced expert. All instruction is done in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere with extensive personal attention paid to each student.

Introduction to Fly Fishing

There's no better way to get into the sport of fly fishing than to take our class! The class consists of two sessions. The first takes place on a Thursday evening from 6 pm to 10 pm and consists of an hour-long casting seminar, followed by three hours of classroom instruction. In the classroom we will discuss equipment knots, rigging, reading water, entomology, and more. The following Saturday morning class will take place on the banks of the South Platte River, where students will put what they have learned into use with help from licensed guides. All equipment will be provided. Cost of class is $165.00, space is limited to 12 students, and sign ups are required.

Introduction to Fly Tying

Learn the basics of tying your own trout flies. Class consists of three sessions, from 6 to 9 pm. Students receive lots of hands-on instruction from Dick Rock, manager of the Peak Fly Shop at Colorado Springs. Students also receive a kit to take home between classes. In addition, we give all students a 10% discount on all fly-tying purchases during the class! Cost of class is $65.00 and advanced registration is required. Class size is limited to six students.
